How To Write a Cover Letter

First of all, what is a Cover Letter? These "letters" should not be confused with essays or even personal statements, despite any similarities. Cover Letters are typically aimed at corporations and businesses when you are looking for a job or internship. It is essentially a one page letter, written to a specific person in the company who’s department you are applying with. Cover Letters are meant to compel the recipient into recognizing how valuable you are. You must ensure that your cover letter catches people’s attention in the right way.

LinkedIn (www.linkedin.com) is a business-oriented social networking site. Founded in December 2002 and launched in May 2003, it is mainly used for professional networking.  LinkedIn has more than 60 million registered users, spanning more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.

Here at PDI, our President utilizes Linkedin to keep and create professional connections around the world. It is like a Facebook or renren, but MUCH more professional. We HIGHLY recommend each and every PDI client register for a linkedin account ASAP. When someone searches your name in GOOGLE or a like search engine, there is a very high chance that your Linkedin Profile will come up. This is to your advantage, so they will see your resume and professional accomplishments automatically.

List of English Power Words

02/16/2011

Power words, also known as action verbs, are words used to make a professional document stronger and more concise. By using these words in the right places, you can create a "active voice" instead of a "passive voice" (always speak in an active voice when writing professional documents). If one can properly incorporate these power words into resumes, cover letters, personal statements, essays, and CVs, you will certainly convey yourself as a strong and concise professional with a strong writing/communication skill.
